Educational objectives: The teaching leading to the acquiring of the official title of Degree in Medicine must provide:
a) Adequate knowledge of the sciences on which Medicine is based, as well as a good understanding of the scientific methods, including the principles of measuring biological functions, of the evaluation of scientifically proven facts and of data analysis.
b) Adequate knowledge of the structure, functions and behaviour of the human being, both healthy and ill, as well as the relationship between a person's state of health and social and physical environment.
c) Adequate knowledge of the materials and the clinical practices which provide a coherent vision of physical and mental illnesses, of the preventative aspects of medicine, of diagnosis and therapeutics, as well as of human reproduction.
d) Adequate clinical experience obtained in hospitals under the appropriate supervision.

Professional options: This professional activity is regulated by the Law of Health Professions.
This qualification enables the holder to carry out activities in the fields of health education; health conservation and promotion; prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness; treatment, therapy and rehabilitation of patients, as well as the judgment and prognosis of the processes under attention.
The holder may carry out activities for public administration and private companies, as well as in teaching.

Basic contents: Physiological bases of the states of health and illness. Development, morphology, structure and function of organs and systems of the body in a state of health. General epidemiology and health demographics. Introduction to medicine and scientific methodology. Introduction to pathology. Morphology, structure and functions of a healthy human being. Legal medicine and toxicology. Deontology and medical legislation. Preventative medicine and public and community health. Organ and system medicine and surgery. Obstetrics and gynaecology. Paediatrics. Psychiatry.
